Stage IIb: Scientific Name Exercise

In addition to coming up with a common name for your switcheroo, you will write a scientific name for it, derived from the genus and species names of the animals that comprise it.

You can look up your mammals' genus and species at Mammal Species of the World, a feature of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History Web site.

 

 

 

1. Please provide the scientific name (the genus and the species), of each of the animals that you have used to create your switcheroo.

2. Combine elements of the scientific names of the animals you have used to compose your switcheroo.

For example, the cheetah-zebra combination might be named:
