Close to This Moment: The Photography of Bob Paley
This wonderful educational site features the photographs of newspaper photographer, Bob Paley, who worked for the Knickerbocker News in Albany, New York from 1947 to 1974.
Mary Paley, the photographer's daughter, produced the site and has developed the project from its initial conception as a photography exhibit into a dynamic, multimedia history presentation that includes oral histories, historic recordings and newspaper clippings.
The first presentation at bobpaley.com opened to the public on February 12, 2008. "Advocates, Mothers, Deacons & Brothers: Stories from the Civil Rights Movement in Albany, New York" features photos and stories from the career of pioneering attorney, Peter Pryor. The site also presents images from a dramatic and confrontational 1968 presidential campaign rally for pro-segregationist candidate, George Wallace.
The folks at Tubehead, who brought you Switch Zoo, were also involved in the development of the Bob Paley site. So if you like this site, you may enjoy taking a look at something else we helped bring to life.
